1 Day Machame Route on Mount Kilimanjaro: Complete Guide

The 1 Day Machame Route on Mount Kilimanjaro begins at Machame Gate, which is located at the southernmost point of the mountain and is near Moshi or Arusha. The hike starts in Kilimanjaro’s verdant, fruitful highland rainforest. As you may expect, the lower slopes receive a lot of precipitation. The terrain may be steep and slick, therefore trekking poles are advised. As the road gets closer to the Shira Plateau, the trees disappear and are replaced with low scrub in the heather zone.

The route that rounds from Barranco to Karanga to Barafu is known as the “southern circuit.” As it circles the mountain halfway, climbers are exposed to breathtaking views.

The long, difficult climb to the peak from the east involves countless switchbacks through progressively looser gravel until we reach Stella Point, the crater rim. The next hour’s drive to Mount Kilimanjaro’s summit, Uhuru Peak, is rather level. On the quick descent, the Mweka track is followed.
