7 days Lemosho route trek offers 6 night 7 days Mount Kilimanjaro  trekking via Lemosho route. This trek  traverses the most beautiful Lemosho Route, among other Kilimanjaro routes, crossing all the 6 ecological zones from lush rainforest to the harsh, beautiful arctic zone.

The 7  days Mount Kilimanjaro climbing via Lemosho route is similar to 6 days Lemosho route mount Kilimanjaro trek, except for day 2 which is broken into day 2 & day  3 to make it a 7 day Lemosho Kilimanjaro trek for better acclimatization and more gradual  steady hikes. This route also takes you from: Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1 on day two, an adjustable altitude gain of 2,000 feet. Then continue from Shira Camp 2 to the little used Moir Hut, at 13,800 feet. While the trek from Baranco to Barafu as well as to the summit up to the end of the trek, remains the same like the 6 day Lemosho route trek. Besides, the Lemosho route also offers an 8 day trek to Mount Kilimanjaro

Day By Day Itinerary For 7 Days Lemosho Route

Day 1: Forest Camp

•Distance: 6 km
•Hiking Time:3-4 hours
•Habitat: Rain Forest
•Elevation (ft): 7,800ft to 9,500ft

Leave Moshi behind for a 4 hours drive to Londorossi Gate, for registration, then continue for another 1 hr drive to Lemosho trailhead where you will settle for a lunch break. After here, embark on your trek through undisturbed forest which bends to the first camp (forest camp) site.

DAY 2: Shira Camp 1 – 7 days Lemosho Route

•Elevation (ft): 9,500ft to 11,500ft
•Distance: 8 km
•Hiking Time 5-6 hours
•Habitat: Moorland

Start you day 2 trek along the trail as you exit the forest, to a savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards. You will ascend steadily through the lush rolling hills and cross numerous streams, to reach the Shira Ridge before slopping gently downwards to Shira 1 camp, where dinner will be served, followed by an overnight sleep. You will enjoy impressive views of Kibo from across the plateau.

DAY 3: Shira 2 to Moir Hut  of the 7 days Lemosho Route

•Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
•Habitat: Moorland

You will explore the Shira plateau all day through, as you take a gentle walk east, towards Kibo’s glaciered summit, across the plateau heading to Shira 2 camp on moorland meadows by a stream. Thereafter, continue to Moir Hut, quite used site on the base of Lent Hills. Several walks are made on Lent Hills making this the perfect acclimatization opportunity. Shira is one among the highest plateaus on earth.

DAY 4: Moir Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

•Elevation (ft): 13,800ft to 13,000ft
•Distance: 7 km
•Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
•Habitat: Semi Desert

Have  breakfast, and set off from the Shira Plateau, on a ridge to the east, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. Then after, change the direction South East towards the Lava Tower, also known as “the Shark’s Tooth”. You will then arrive at the second junction, shortly after the tower, which brings you up close the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 16,000ft.

Continue further to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 13,000ft,  where you will come to rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight.  This days is also important for  for acclimatization for the body as you prepare for acclimatization, because you will start and end at the same elevation.

DAY 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

•Elevation (ft): 13,000ft to 15,000ft
•Distance: 9km
•Hiking Time: 8-10 hours
•Habitat: Alpine Desert

Depart Barranco camp, and navigate through a steep ridge through Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite. Then after, hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail, and continue further up to the Barafu Hut. At this point, you will have completed the Southern Circuit, which offers spectacular views of the summit from many numerous angles.

You will also pack up in preparation for the summit day, followed by dinner and an overnight. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are also viewed from this position.

DAY 6: Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut

•Elevation (ft): 15,300ft to 19,345ft (and down to 10,000ft)
•Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent
•Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent
•Habitat: Arctic

7 days Mount Kilimanjaro climbing via lemosho routeYou will wake up early (midnight to 2am), to begin hiking  through the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. Continue through the northwesterly direction and ascend steadily through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim, which is known as, the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. A short  rest break will be taken at Stella Point (18,600 ft), where you will see the most beautiful sunrise, (only if the weather is clear). Proceed from Stella point for about 1hr  through a snow path to the summit, at Uhuru Peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will be allowed a few hours  crown up your joyous celebrations, alongside taking good photos at the peak, then after , you begin descending straight downwards to Mweka Hut camp site, with lunch enroute at Barafu camp (gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down). Mweka Camp located in the upper forest and mist or rain can occur at anytime in the late afternoon.  Enjoy your last dinner on the mountain as well as an overnight sleep.

DAY 7:Mweka Camp to Moshi;

•Distance: 10 km
•Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
•Habitat: Rain Forest

Wake up to a delicious breakfast, then proceed downwards to Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. The lowere elevations are often muddy, and wet which requires the use of gaiters and trekking poles help. Contunue futher for 1 hour to Mweka Village, where you will meet your driver guide for a transfer back to Moshi
