06:30 AM – Hotel Pickup

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. From there, you will travel for approximately two hours toward Londorossi Gate, situated at around 2,250 meters above sea level.

Upon arrival, the team will assist with the necessary national park registration and entry procedures before you meet the mountain crew preparing for the day’s hike.

09:00 AM – Transfer to Shira Gate

After completing the park formalities, continue by 4×4 vehicle from Londorossi Gate toward Shira Gate at approximately 3,400 meters.

The drive takes you through the upper forest zone as the scenery gradually transforms. Dense rainforest gives way to open moorland, providing your first impressive views of Kilimanjaro’s dramatic high-altitude environment.

10:30 AM – Hike Across the Shira Plateau

Once at Shira Gate, begin your hike across the magnificent Shira Plateau, gradually climbing toward approximately 3,800–3,900 meters.

Depending on weather conditions and the group’s fitness level, the route may lead toward Shira Camp 1 or the Shira Cathedral viewpoint.

As you walk across this remarkable landscape, enjoy panoramic views toward Kibo, Kilimanjaro’s highest peak. The plateau is also home to distinctive high-altitude vegetation, including giant lobelias and senecios.

01:00 PM – Scenic Picnic Lunch

Take a well-earned break and enjoy a packed picnic lunch surrounded by the extraordinary scenery of the Shira Plateau.

With clear weather, you may have impressive views toward Kilimanjaro’s glaciers and Kibo summit, while the vast plateau stretches out below.

02:00 PM – Return to Shira Gate

Following lunch and a short rest, begin the descent toward Shira Gate.

The return walk provides another opportunity to appreciate the changing landscapes and take photographs before reaching the gate, where your waiting vehicle will be ready for the journey back.

04:30 PM – Drive Back to Moshi or Arusha

Board the 4×4 vehicle at Shira Gate and begin the drive back to Moshi or Arusha.

You can relax after the day’s adventure and enjoy the changing scenery on the way. Arrival at your hotel is expected by the evening.
