Best months to climb Kilimanjaro and reasons why

January, February and March

Best Time To Visit mount Kilimanjaro Month By Month, Excellent visibility, mainly dry, and clear days make for perfect trekking conditions. Over 14,000 feet, there’s a fair likelihood of snow and occasional showers, which make for some amazing photo ops.

Despite being referred to as “high season,” this time of year is generally calmer on the slopes than the major climbing season, which runs from June to September. This strikes a good mix between reasonable weather and not being overly crowded.

Hikers who prefer dry weather with as few people as possible. A bonus is snow on the peak.

April and May

It can be beautiful in early March, but as the month goes on, the rains may begin to fall, resulting in muddy paths, overcast skies, and low visibility. Although it’s a little hit or miss, you might be lucky to get some dry weather in late March or late May.
Long rains from April to early May make climbing unfeasible. You must be ready for rainy weather and not be let down by low visibility if your schedule requires you to travel during the shoulder seasons, which are late March and late May.
You should ideally have some prior hiking experience so that more challenging trail conditions won’t intimidate you.

June July August and September

This is the busiest time of year on the mountain and the major climbing season due to the best weather and summer vacations in the US and Europe. Due to the fact that July and August are the busiest months, you can choose June, September, or October if you don’t mind a little rain if you want to attempt to avoid the crowds.
Even though there is always a chance of receiving rain and showers, most commonly in the forest, this time of year is primarily dry. During this time, especially during the full moon, routes are typically busy.
Climbers who don’t mind crowds, which are a major problem on Marangu and Machame routes, and who seek the finest weather for their journey.

October and November

Best Time To Visit mount Kilimanjaro Month By Month, November often sees brief rains that last three to four weeks. The rain usually falls in the late afternoon and is frequently less intense than the “long rains” that occur in April and May. It is a very calm period on the mountain.
Since the northern side of the mountain is more sheltered and experiences less total rainfall, we would advise using the Rongai or Northern Circuit routes.
Skirmish hikers who don’t mind rainy conditions, avoiding crowds.
